Six Arrested on Drug Charges in Baker City Area

A two month undercover drug investigation by Oregon State Police (OSP) led to the arrest of six people in the Baker City area on various drug-related charges.
 
The investigation led by OSP Detective Dan Conner, who is assigned to the Baker County Narcotics Enforcement Team, resulted in the execution of two search warrants during the early morning hours of May 28, 2008 in Baker City with the assistance of law enforcement officers from OSP, Baker City Police Department, Baker County Sheriff's Office, La Grande Police Department, and Union County Sheriff's Office.
 
The first location at 1337 Valley Avenue led to the discovery of five marijuana plants, small amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Two children, ages 1 and 3, were at the residence and taken into protective custody by Department of Human Services. The following four people were arrested and lodged in the Baker County Jail:
  • JEFF J. SULT, age 36, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a School, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
  • STACY L. GIFFEN, age 41, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a School, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
  • JOHN I. LANSDON, age 24, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Cocaine (2 counts), Unlawful Delivery of Cocaine within 1000 feet of a School (2 counts), Child Neglect in the First Degree (2 counts), and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (4 counts).
  • MIRANDA MOYES, age 20, was arrested for Frequenting a Drug House and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (2 counts).
 
The second location at 1224 Place Street led to the discovery of small amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, and a handgun. Arrested and lodged in Baker County Jail was TANYA M. WHITE, age 30, for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Cocaine, Unlawful Possession and Deliver of Methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a School (2 counts), and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
 
The investigation also resulted in a traffic stop on May 27th on Interstate 84 between La Grande and Baker City during which ALEXANDER G. SCHWARZ, age 29, was arrested for Probation Violation. SCHWARZ was also arrested stemming from the above search warrants on additional charges of Unlawful Possession of Cocaine (2 counts) and Unlawful Delivery of Cocaine within 1000 feet of a School (2 counts).
 
The investigation is continuing and more arrests are anticipated.
