Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 211 southwest of Colton

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a single vehicle fatal traffic crash found Sunday morning off Highway 211 southwest of Colton. The time of the crash in which one person died and another was seriously injured is unknown.
According to OSP Trooper Alex Monarch, on May 30, 2010 at 9:51 a.m. a report was received of a vehicle spotted overturned in a creek on the east side of Highway 211 near milepost 21. Local emergency responders and OSP troopers responded to the area near S. Short Fellows Road. View of the involved vehicle from the highway was obstructed by trees.
A 1999 Ford Ranger pickup was about 300 feet off Highway 211 overturned in a creek with the driver pinned inside. A seriously injured male passenger identified as TIMOTHY L. BUYES, age 18, from Molalla, was outside of the pickup about 100 feet away. BUYES was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital for treatment.
The driver died at the scene before he could be extricated by Colton Fire Department personnel. He was identified as CODY ALLEN LOOP, age 18, from Canby.
Safety restraint use information is pending investigative confirmation.
LOOP and BUYES were seen in the Estacada area late Saturday night.  OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Molalla Police Department, and ODOT assisted at the scene. The highway was closed for about 3 hours.
