Oregon State Police (OSP) and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office are investigating the discovery of a body Saturday afternoon in the Pacific Ocean south of Depoe Bay. There are no signs of foul play and the body has not been positively identified.
According to OSP Fish & Wildlife Division Sergeant Todd Thompson, on May 31, 2008 at 1:22 p.m. Oregon State Police received a call that a commercial sea urchin diver discovered a body in about 40 feet of water 1/2 mile south of Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint in Lincoln County. A Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to the scene, and with the assistance of the US Coast Guard Station Depoe Bay the body of an uidentified male was recovered.
Investigators will be working with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner to identify the body. No further information is available for release.
