The body of a man found last Saturday in the Pacific Ocean south of Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint in Lincoln County has been positively identified as LARRY ALLEN MOTT, age 54, from Depoe Bay. MOTT was originally reported to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office as a missing/endangered person on May 28, 2008 as he has had suicidal tendencies. There are no signs of foul play. According to the Lincoln County Medical Examiner, Dr. Marilyn Fraser, MOTT died as a result of asphyxiation due to drowning.
His body was found May 31, 2008 at 1:22 p.m. by a commercial sea urchin diver in about 40 feet of water 1/2 mile south of Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint in Lincoln County. A Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to the scene, and with the assistance of the US Coast Guard Station Depoe Bay his body was recovered but his identity was unknown until confirmed by the medical examiner.
