The following is a news release from Lincoln County Sheriff's Office
This is an updated news release regarding the arrest of a wanted person identified as JUSTIN B. WOOD, age 25, from Yachats. WOOD was wanted on outstanding Lincoln County warrants stemming from an assault that occurred May 10, 2012 in Yachats.
On June 5, 2012 around 1:00 p.m. a U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officers (LEO) stationed in Waldport received a report from another Forest Service employee that an adult male was seen walking on Forest Service Road 55 near milepost 12 southeast of Yachats. The male told the Forest Service employee that he had been lost in the woods for a couple days.
When contacted by the Forest Service LEO, the man was identified as WOOD and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and lodged on the following charges:
- Assault in the Second Degree
- Assault in the Third Degree (2 counts)
- Assault in the Fourth Degree
- Unlawful Use of a Weapon (2 counts)
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree
- Theft in the Third Degree
WOOD is believed to have fled a residence following an Oregon State Police SWAT team-involved shooting on May 31, 2012 at approximately 11:59 p.m.
