Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 223 near Dallas

A Dallas women died Sunday morning and a Salem man was seriously injured following a two car collision on Highway 223 near Dallas.
On June 6, 2010 at approximately 7:26 a.m. Oregon State Police trooeprs from the Salem and McMinnville Area Command offices responded to a two vehicle head-on traffic collision on Highway 223 near Rickreall Road.  Initial investigation indicates a 1995 Isuzu Trooper driven by BROCK BRITT, age 24, from Salem, was westbound on Highway 223 when, for unknown reasons, it drifted over the centerline into the eastbound lane where it collided nearly head-on with an eastbound 1999 Chevrolet Suburban driven by LISA KOLOEN, age 54, from Dallas. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the lanes of travel.
KOLOEN was pronounced deceased at the scene.
BRITT was transported to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.
Highway 223 was closed for approximately three hours while troopers and an OSP Collision Reconstructionist investigated the crash.  OSP was assisted at the scene by the Polk County Sheriffs Office, Polk County Fire & Rescue, and ODOT.
The investigation is continuing.
