Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Burns work site are continuing the investigation into Thursday afternoon's fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 395 about four miles south of Riley. The crash resulted in the death of an Alturas, California man whose next of kin were notified by Modoc County, California Sheriff's Office.
According to OSP Recruit Trooper Jeremiah Beckert, on June 10, 2010 at approximately 1:33 p.m. OSP troopers and local emergency responders were dispatched to a reported fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 395 near milepost 4. The investigation indicates a group of motorcyclists were spread out over a couple miles as they traveled north on Highway 395 to a rally in Halfway, Oregon. On of the motorcycles, a 2002 Harley Davidson operated by GLENN SCOTT JOYCE, age 58, from Alturas, California was northbound when it traveled off the highway shoulder and into a ditch where his motorcycle struck several boulders.
JOYCE was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a protective helmet.
Road conditions were dry and the highway was not blocked during the investigation.
