On June 18, 2010, six Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Roseburg office and a Douglas County corrections deputy kicked off the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.  The following officers each ran over a 10K (about 6.4 miles each) to help raise money and awareness for Special Olympics events this summer:
Oregon State Police
  • Lieutenant Doug Ladd
  • Sergeant Dave Randall
  • Senior Trooper Robert Gorman
  • Senior Trooper Jason Stedman
  • Trooper Brian Jewell
  • Detective Brian Assmus
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office
  • Deputy Kari Aldiss
Starting at the OSP Roseburg Area Command office, the runners hooked up with local Special Olympic participants and coordinators as they ran down Garden Valley Boulevard to the Interstate 5 northbound on-ramp at milepost 125.  Runners alternated with the torch to the Douglas / Lane County line at milepost 170.  ODOT assisted runners during the event along Interstate 5.
