An Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper arrested a Walla Walla, Washington man early Sunday morning during a Clackamas-area traffic stop after discovering approximately 5 lbs. of marijuana and a loaded handgun concealed in the vehicle.
According to OSP Lieutenant Jason Bledsoe, on June 20, 2010 at approximately 2:25 a.m. an OSP trooper stopped a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt displaying Washington license plates northbound on Interstate 205 near milepost 12 for speeding and failure to maintain a single lane of travel. Driver PISTEO P. KASALA, age 24, from Walla Walla, Washington was the lone occupant.
Subsequent investigation during the stop with the help of a Molalla Police Department drug detection canine led to the discovery of approximately 5 pounds of marijuana in the car's trunk. A loaded Glock handgun was also found concealed inside the car. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is $12,000.
KASALA was arrested and lodged in the Clackamas County Jail for:
-
Unlawful Possession and Distribution of Marijuana
-
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office also assisted during the stop. The OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
