Fatal Motorcycle Crash - Highway 42 east of Myrtle Point

A Bandon-area man died Saturday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed along Highway 42 about four miles east of Myrtle Point. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation.
According to OSP Trooper Khris Brandon, on June 26, 2010 at approximately 4:05 p.m. a 2003 Harley Davidson operated by RAYMOND SCOTT McMAHON, age 49, from Bandon, was westbound on Highway 42 near milepost 26 followed by his brother on another motorcycle. McMAHON entered a curve too fast, traveled off the highway into a ditch and then was ejected from the motorcycle as it went airborne. McMAHON came to rest on the highway and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Coos County Sheriff's Office, Myrtle Point Police Department, Bridge Fire Department, Myrtle Point ambulance, and ODOT.
Highway 42 was closed about 1 1/2 hours during the investigation and emergency response.
