Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives, with the assistance of the Marion County Medical Examiner and Marion County District Attorney's Office, are investigating the death of an unidentified young female whose body was found early Friday morning east of the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 about a mile north of Woodburn. A general description of the victim is being released to help investigators identify her.

On June 29, 2012 at approximately 5:17 a.m. several reports were called in regarding a possible body spotted off the shoulder of the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 273. OSP, Woodburn Police Department, and Woodburn Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed there was a deceased body at that location along the grass line east of the traffic lanes.

OSP Criminal Investigation Division detectives responded to the scene and are leading the investigation. Detective Kyle Wilson is the lead investigator.

The victim does have signs of injury but the manner and cause of death is undetermined. She is described as a white female, late teens to early 20s in age, 5'00" - 5'2", 100 - 115 lbs, with shoulder length brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing black jeans, dark colored t-shirt, tan / black plaid zipper sweatshirt with a solid gray hood, and tan colored hiking style boots.

An autopsy will be scheduled at a later time.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the woman or this investigation is asked to contact OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888. Investigators would also like to speak to anyone who was traveling along Interstate 5 near Woodburn overnight who may have seen a female matching that description walking in the area or any vehicles stopped on the side of the northbound lanes prior to 5:17 a.m.

No other information to be released at this time.
