Injury Hit & Run Investigation - Hubbard Creek Road south of Port Orford

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into an early Friday morning hit and run crash that seriously injured a Port Orford area resident on Hubbard Creek Road off Highway 101 about two miles south of Port Orford.

According to Senior Trooper Paul Rushton, on June 29, 2012 at approximately 4:37 a.m. OSP was notified that a seriously injured man was found on Hubbard Creek Road off Highway 101. Preliminary investigation indicates the man lives along Hubbard Creek Road and frequently is seen riding a bicycle. His bike was found by a woman driving along the road who reported it after not seeing the man nearby. When emergency responders came to the scene they found the injured man identified as ANTHONY JAN MIJS, age 47, and transported him to Curry General Hospital. MIJS was later transferred by air to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.

OSP was assisted in this incident by Curry County Sheriff's Office, Port Orford Police Department, and Port Orford Community Ambulance.
