Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation and search for an unidentified suspect who reportedly robbed a motorist stopped at an Interstate 84 rest area near Stanfield, Oregon Sunday afternoon.

On July 1, 2012 at approximately 4:20 p.m. a 40-year old Washington man stopped his sport utility vehicle at the westbound Stanfield rest area near milepost 186 to sleep. The man reportedly parked on the on-ramp shoulder west of the main parking area with windows down and was awakened by a black male adult pointing a handgun at him demanding his wallet. After giving the suspect the wallet, the suspect walked back to his vehicle and drove away westbound on Interstate 84.

OSP troopers and officers from Boardman Police Department, Morrow County Sheriff's Office, and Umatilla Police Department searched along Interstate 84 and Interstate 82 but couldn't find the suspect or vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black male, 25 - 35 years of age, 6'00" - 6'02", medium build, missing upper front left tooth, clean shave, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a late 80's to early 90's full-size white Chevrolet pickup with unknown license plate. The pickup had custom straight duel exhaust visible under the rear bumper.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 922-5751. Trooper Mark Amos is the lead investigator.
