Oregon State Police troopers, with the assistance of the interagency Clackamas County area crash investigation team (CRAFT), are continuing the investigation into Wednesday morning's fatal traffic crash that occurred south of Wilsonville on Interstate 5.  The victim's name is being released following next of kin notification.
According to Lieutenant Jason Bledsoe, on July 8, 2009 at approximately 5:15 a.m. a group of vehicles were northbound on Interstate 5 approaching milepost 282 in the area of a highway work zone where signs were displayed indicating an upcoming lane restriction.  One of the vehicles, a 2003 Lexus four-door passenger car driven by LINDA MARIE TRETHEWY, age 53, from Keizer, began to slow and attempted to move to the right when it struck the side of a flatbed semi-trailer pulled by a commercial truck driven by JUSTIN D. BOYER, age 33, from Cottage Grove, Oregon.

After impact the Lexus continued back to the left where it traveled northbound into the center median.  It continued through a tall grassy section and went off an estimated 25-foot drop where it landed on its top on the Canby/Hubbard Highway.

TRETHEWY was using safety restraints and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

BOYER was using safety restraints and was not injured.  He was driving for Far West Steel out of Eugene.

Investigators were assisted at the scene by the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office, Clackamas County Medical Examiner, ODOT and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

No enforcement action has been taken and the investigation is continuing.
