A 7-year old St. Helens girl was seriously injured Thursday evening when she was accidentally run over by her mother at the entrance to their driveway as she was laying in the sun on her back.  Oregon State Police troopers are conducting the investigation.
Preliminary information indicates on July 8, 2010 at approximately 6:43 p.m. MELISSA STROUD, age 32, was driving a 2003 Ford F150 pickup arriving home from work.  As she was pulling into her driveway at 35254 Juniper Lane, she accidentally ran over her 7-year old daughter, JAYDEN STROUD, who was lying on her back on the sidewalk by the driveway entrance.  Vision obstructions caused by intense sunlight and a nearby vehicle may have been contributing factors that prevented the mother from seeing her daughter on the sidewalk.
JAYDEN STROUD was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
OSP troopers from the St. Helens work site and an OSP crash reconstructionist are continuing the investigation.  St. Helens police assisted OSP along with Columbia River Fire & Rescue.
