OSP Arrests Cleawox Market Robbery Suspect in Florence

A Florence-area man was arrested by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers Sunday morning following a reported Saturday evening armed robbery at the Cleawox Market south of Florence.
According to OSP Sergeant Ron Martin, on July 11, 2009 at approximately 7:35 p.m. OSP troopers responded to a reported armed robbery at the Cleawox Market involving a white male carrying what he claimed was a bomb. Upon entering the store the suspect demanded cash or he would detonate the device. The store clerk emptied the cash register and the suspect exited the store with an undetermined amount of cash. No one was injured.
Witnesses provided a physical description of the suspect, a vehicle description and direction of travel.
An investigation led by OSP, with the assistance of Florence Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office, resulted in the arrest of JOHN JEREMY ANGELI, age 29, at a residence in Florence early Sunday morning. Investigators found evidence associated with the robbery as well as user amounts of methamphetamine at the residence where the suspect was arrested.
ANGELI was lodged in the Lane County Jail for Robbery in the Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.
