Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to locate a suspect sought in connection with an early Friday morning injury hit & run traffic crash on Highway 99E north of Gladstone. The suspect, JASON VALENZUELA, age 21, from Oregon City, fled the scene on foot.
On July 15, 2011 at approximately 1:45 a.m. OSP, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, and Clackamas Fire District 1 responded to a reported injury traffic crash on Highway 99E at Hull Avenue. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2009 Nissan Frontier pickup was northbound at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a 2007 Mitsubishi four-door car. After impact, the Mitsubishi traveled off the highway and struck a tree. The Nissan continued into a parking lot at Bo's Pub where it knocked down a large sign and power pole before crashing into a parked recreational vehicle.
The Nissan's driver was seen fleeing the scene on foot and according to witnesses appeared to be very intoxicated.  Subsequent follow-up investigation identified VALENZUELA as the Nissan's driver. VALENZUELA is described as 5'8", 135 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.
A 20-year old male passenger in the Nissan was not injured. He remained at the scene and was taken by OSP to a local detox center.
The Mitsubishi's driver, CHRISTINE D. SQUILLANTE, age 39, from northwest Portland, was transported by AMR ambulance to Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with information regarding JASON VALENZUELA's location is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
