OSP Investigating Tossing of Molotov Cocktails Off Tualatin-area Overpass Onto Interstate 5

Oregon State Police (OSP) is seeking information to identify the suspect(s) responsible for tossing two Molotov cocktail-type incendiary devices off the SW Norwood Road overpass onto an Interstate 5 northbound lane early Friday morning. Both devices landed in front of a northbound vehicle whose driver was able to avoid the subsequent explosion and fire on the roadway.
According to OSP Trooper Chris Schinnerer, on July 15, 2011 at approximately 12:15 a.m. unknown person(s) threw the two incendiary devices off the SW Norwood Road overpass onto a northbound lane of Interstate 5 south of Interstate 205. Highway workers about 500 feet from the scene heard an explosion and saw flames. The driver of a northbound vehicle in the lane where the devices landed was able to avoid the area where they landed.
An area search didn't locate a suspect.
