Preliminary Information - Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 101 / Lakeside
One person died and three others reportedly were injured in a multi-vehicle traffic crash on Highway 101 in the Lakeside area that occurred as a vehicle was attempting to elude an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper. The Coos County Crash Team is the lead investigating agency assisted by OSP and Coos County District Attorney's Office. Information following this initial news release will be released by the Coos County Crash Team.

Preliminary information indicates on July 17, 2012 at approximately 4:52 p.m. an OSP trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a speed violation northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 229. The driver failed to yield and attempted to elude northbound for about seven miles before being involved in a collision with 4 other vehicles on the Ten Mile Creek Bridge near milepost 222. The driver of the eluding vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three other people were transported to area hospitals with unknown injuries.
