Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help to identify the person who shot a buck deer one week ago in the south Eugene area using archery equipment. The buck deer was still alive and had to be euthanized by an Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife biologist.

According to OSP Senior Trooper Marshall Maher, on or about July 18, 2009 the buck deer was shot in the neck by an unknown person using archery equipment and was found still alive in a neighborhood near W. 40th Street in Eugene. At the time of this incident there were no lawful hunting seasons for deer.

Anyone with information in this case should contact the Oregon State Police Turn In Poacher (TIP) hotline at 1-800-452-7888.
