| Union County Major Crimes Team Investigating Body Part Found Near Elgin |

The Union County Major Crimes Team is investigating the discovery of a human hand Friday near Elgin, Oregon.
On July 24, 2009, a human hand was discovered on Boise Cascade property near Elgin,. The Union County Medical Examiner confirmed that the recovered body part was a human hand, but there might not be enough to establish an identity. The hand will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Clackamas for verification and possible identification.
The Union County Major Crime Team consists of Union County Sheriff's Office, LaGrande Police Department, Elgin Police Department, Oregon State Police, and the Union County District Attorney's Office.
