Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Saturday afternoon's serious injury crash involving a bicyclist and motor vehicle at the intersection of Highway 219 and Champoeg Road. The bicyclist is being treated for serious injuries not considered life-threatening.
On July 28, 2012 at approximately 12:55 p.m. a bicycle ridden by ELLEN RAIM, age 54, from southwest Portland, was westbound on Champoeg Road when it attempted to cross Highway 219. The bicyclist failed to yield to a 1991 Chrysler four-door traveling southbound on Highway 219. The car attempt to avoid the bicyclist but struck her in the southbound lane.
RAIM was ejected from her bicycle and transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment. She was wearing a helmet.
The car's driver, ANNETTE R. PIKE, age 53, from Newberg, was not injured.
OSP Trooper Chad Drew is the lead investigator. No citation issued at this time. OSP was assisted at the scene by local emergency responding agencies.
