Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Wednesday evening's two-vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of a 24-year old Junction City woman on Highway 99 south of Junction City.
According to OSP Trooper Hank Duren, on August 3, 2011 at approximately 7:05 p.m., OSP and multiple area agencies were notified of a possible fatal traffic crash on Highway 99 at Hatton Lane near milepost 110. Upon arrival, emergency responders confirmed one driver was deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates on a 32-foot Coachman recreational vehicle driven by DOUGLAS ALLAN BRUCE, age 48, from Eugene, was southbound on Highway 99 when it traveled onto the west shoulder. The motorhome crashed into the left front driver side of a 1990 Honda CRX stopped at a stop sign on Hatton Lane.
The Honda's driver, ANDREA NICOLE POST, age 24, from Junction City, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was wearing safety restraints.
BRUCE was using safety restraints and was not injured.
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. No enforcement action taken at this time.
Assisting at the scene were Junction City Police Department, Junction City Fire Department, Lane Rural Fire Rescue, Lane County Sheriff's Office and ODOT. Highway 99 was closed two hours during the investigation.
