Oregon State Police (OSP) has been notified that a 12-year old girl struck Tuesday afternoon by a car while trying to cross Highway 211 near Barlow Road died Thursday morning at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) where she was being treated for her injuries.  OSP troopers are continuing the investigation.
On August 2, 2011 at approximately 2:00 p.m. KAYLA CAMPOS, age 12, retrieved mail from the family's mailbox across the highway from her home in the 5500 block of Highway 211. While going back toward her home she attempted to cross Highway 211 and was struck by a southbound 1998 Buick Century four-door driven by GLENNA McKAY, age 84, from Woodburn. McKAY was unable to avoid hitting CAMPOS who was seriously injured.
LifeFlight responded and transported CAMPOS to Oregon Health & Sciences University where she is being treated until her death.
McKAY and her 54-year old female passenger were not hurt.
The highway was briefly closed for LifeFlight response and then open to one lane until about 3:45 p.m.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, ODOT and Monitor Rural Fire Protection District.
