Triple Homicide Suspect Waives Extradition to Oregon

(The following release is sent at the request of the Union County District Attorney's Office)
GREGORY ALVIN COOK (aka Gregory Alvin Mitts), charged with the murders of Shannon M. McKillop, Frank M. Scaramuzzi, and Jeremiah H. Johnston, waived extradition to the State of Oregon. This was done in a brief hearing in Thurston County, Washington on August 4, 2009.
Cook will be transported to Union County, Oregon on August 5, 2009. He will be arraigned on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 1:15 PM in La Grande. It is anticipated that the arraignment will occur by video link from the Union County Correctional Facility to the courthouse.
The Union County Major Crimes Team is comprised of detectives from the Union County Sheriff's Office, La Grande Police Department, Elgin Police Department, Oregon State Police and Union County District Attorneys Office.
