Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division troopers are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect(s) responsible for leaving a wounded buck deer shot with an arrow in an Astoria residential neighborhood. A reward from the Oregon Hunter's Association is offered to help solve this case.
On August 2, 2009, OSP troopers from the Astoria Area Command office responded to a report of a 4x3 buck deer that had been wounded with an arrow. Troopers investigating this case believe it was likely that the incident occurred the night before. The wounded deer was located in a residential neighborhood on Niagra Street in Astoria, and troopers were forced to euthanize the deer on scene.
The Oregon Hunter's Association Turn In Poachers (TIP) Program and the Clatsop County Chapter of the Oregon Hunter's Association are offering a total reward of $500 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. Anyone with pertinent information is asked to call the Turn In Poacher (TIP) line at (800)452-7888, or Trooper Jim O'Connor directly at (503)325-5515 ext. 47.
