OSP SWAT Team Assists in Arrest of Umatilla County Shooting Suspect

Kevin Yovani Sandoval, age 20, suspected in last week's shooting of Amber Rodriguez, age 19, was arrested at 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning when members of the Oregon State Police SWAT team served a search warrant on a residence at 230 SE Lucy St. in Stanfield. Sandoval surrendered without resistance and was taken into custody on authority of an arrest warrant for three counts of Assault in the Second Degree. The warrant was issued in connection with an unrelated incident in October of 2005.

The Umatilla County Major Crimes Team is continuing to assist the Stanfield Police Department in the investigation into the August 6, 2008 shooting. The team includes personnel from Oregon State Police, Hermiston Police Department, Umatilla Police Department, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, and the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office. Further details of the investigation will be released when they are available.
