Detectives from the Oregon State Police, working in conjunction with the Columbia County Major Crimes Team, are investigating a homicide following the discovery of a deceased male at his property Monday evening in Columbia County.
On August 25, 2008 during the early evening hours, Columbia County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a found body in the 32000 block of Highland Road between Rainier and Deer Island. Members of the Columbia County Major Crimes Team responded to initiate an investigation. An autopsy on the victim, identified as VERNON LLOYD McCULLOUGH, age 62, determined the cause of death was from homicidal violence. McCULLOUGH resided alone at the residence.
No further information is being released at this time related to the ongoing investigation.
