Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 395 near Alkalai Lake Station in Lake County

One person died Saturday afternoon when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle on Highway 395 about 48 miles south of the junction with Highway 20 and rolled multiple times. The victim's name is released following next of kin notification.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Steve Yates, on August 30, 2008 at approximately 2:05 p.m. a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo displaying Idaho license plates was northbound on Highway 395 near milepost 48 when it drifted into the southbound lane. The driver, MIGUEL RAMIREZ, age 37, from Caldwell, Idaho, over-corrected and lost control. The Isuzu Rodeo rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its top off the west side of Highway 395.
RAMIREZ was using safety restraints and was partially ejected. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OSP troopers from the Lakeview and Burns offices responded to investigate. Lake County Sheriff's Office, Lakeview Disaster Unit, and ODOT assisted at the scene.  Caldwell, Idaho Police Department provided extensive help with attempt to notify next of kin.
