An 81-year old woman reported missing since Tuesday night from a campsite at Cape Blanco State Park north of Port Orford, Oregon was found safe late Wednesday morning. According to Curry County Sheriff John Bishop, the woman was found in heavy brush about ten yards from her campsite by Jackson County Sheriff's Office search and rescue personnel.
Sheriff Bishop coordinated the search effort for NELDA AGUIAR, age 81, from Chico, California, with the assistance of search and rescue personnel from Jackson and Coos County, Oregon State Police, and a National Guard helicopter. AGUIAR, who reportedly has dementia, was reported missing Tuesday evening while she was camping at Cape Blanco State Park with her adult son.
Curry County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue personnel conducted an initial search Tuesday night and resumed search efforts Wednesday morning about 6:30 a.m. Fourteen searchers, with the assistance of a National Guard helicopter, were looking for AGUIAR when she was found. Additional personnel and resources from Josephine County and Del Norte County, California were enroute and called off.
AGUIAR was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
