Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Wednesday afternoon's single vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 31 south of Fort Rock in northern Lake County. The crash resulted in the death of a 56-year old woman from Fallon, Nevada.
According to OSP Senior Trooper Joe Smith, on September 8, 2010 at approximately 5:15 p.m. a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by ZIPPORAH MERCY WORTH, age 56, from Fallon, Nevada was northbound on Highway 31 near milepost 35 when it drifted off the highway into the northbound shoulder ditch. The vehicle continued over 200 feet in the ditch before WORTH attempted to bring it back onto the highway. She over-corrected and the vehicle rolled over as it crossed the traffic lanes into the southbound shoulder ditch where it came to rest on its passenger side with major damage to the roof and windshield area.
WORTH was using safety restraints and was pronounced deceased at the scene. She previously resided in Walla Walla, Washington before moving back to Fallon, Nevada.
OSP troopers from the Gilchrist work site are continuing the investigation.
Personnel from North Lake EMS in Silver Lake, Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies from the Christmas Valley substation, and ODOT personnel from La Pine assisted at the scene.
