Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 6 east of Tillamook

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday morning's two vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 6 about nine miles east of Tillamook that resulted in the death of one involved drivers.
According to OSP Sergeant Greg Plummer, on September 11, 2010 at approximately 11:00 a.m. a 1998 Subaru Forester station wagon driven by CHARLAINE CECILIA SPRING, age 57, from Tillamook, was westbound on Highway 6 near milepost 9 when it crossed the centerline and collided nearly head-on with an eastbound 2001 GMC Sierra pickup driven by MARK ALAN KOBACK, age 49, from Portland. KOBACK attempted to avoid the crash but was not able to do so.
SPRING was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was using a safety belt and the driver's side airbag deployed.
KOBACK was also wearing a safety belt and his driver's side airbag deployed. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to Tillamook County General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
OSP troopers from the Tillamook worksite are continuing the investigation.
Personnel from the OSP Banks Worksite, OSP McMinnville Patrol Office, Tillamook Ambulance, Tillamook Fire Department, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, ODOT and the Tillamook County Medical Examiner assisted at the scene.
Highway 6 was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours during the investigation.
