Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Pendleton Area Command office are continuing the investigation into Sunday morning's traffic crash on Interstate 84 about six miles west of Pendleton that resulted in the death of a Portland-area woman.
On September 12, 2010 at approximately 11:42 a.m. a commercial truck westbound in the left lane on Interstate 84 near milepost 201 was being passed by a Nissan Versa using the inside median shoulder. The Nissan's driver lost control in the median and rolled several times until it came to rest on its side in the right eastbound lane. The Nissan's driver, LaDonna Parks, age 22, from Portland, was not using safety restraints and was ejected from the car.
Parks was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital where she died Sunday from her injuries.
Eastbound traffic was closed for about 20 minutes before being re-opened to one lane for the next three hours.
OSP troopers were assisted at the scene by Hermiston Police Department, ODOT and local emergency responding agencies.
