Fatal Vehicle / Pedestrian Crash - Interstate 5 south of Roseburg

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a Wednesday morning fatal crash involving an 27-year old Myrtle Creek man who died after he was struck by a vehicle while trying to walk across the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 just south of Roseburg.
On September 17, 2008 at 12:07 a.m. troopers and local emergency personnel responded to Interstate 5 southbound near milepost 123.5 following reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Preliminary investigation indicates SHANE AARON RECORE, age 27, from Myrtle Creek, was struck in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 by a 2003 Cadillac Seville and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The identified involved vehicle was a 2003 Cadillac Seville driven by Myrtle Briggs, age 78, from Riddle. Mrs. Briggs was wearing her lap and shoulder belt and was not injured.
OSP troopers from the Roseburg office are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call OSP at (541) 440-3334.
