| Grants Pass Man Convicted on Multiple Sex Crimes Following OSP Investigation |

A Grants Pass-area man is awaiting sentencing following his conviction last Thursday in Josephine County Circuit Court on multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of a juvenile age female over a 5 year period. The case was investigated by Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division detectives, and prosecuted and tried by Josephine County Deputy District Attorney Ryan Mulkins.
Following a one-week trial, a jury unanimously found CRAIG ALAN SWINNEY, age 55, guilty of the following charges:

Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (6 counts)

Rape in the First Degree

Sodomy in the First Degree
-
Sodomy in the Second Degree
-
Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree

Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree
SWINNEY is held in the Josephine County Jail pending a sentencing hearing.
SWINNEY was arrested by OSP detectives May 17, 2010 after he was indicted by a Josephine County Grant Jury. The case was investigated by OSP Detective Tom Harrison with the assistance of Detective John Riddle and Detective Chris Kaber.
