Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday afternoon's fatal traffic crash on Highway 395 north of Ukiah that resulted in the death of a 43-year old Cornelius-area man.
On September 25, 2010 at approximately 12:28 p.m. a 1991 Ford Aeromax truck pulling a trailer operated by RICHARD M. MILLER, age 65, from northeast Portland, was northbound on Highway 395 near milepost 47. The trailer's wheels reportedly went off the paved roadway onto the soft gravel shoulder causing MILLER to lose control. The truck and trailer rolled once coming to rest on its wheels partially blocking the southbound lane.
MILLER was transported by Ukiah Quick Response ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton with minor injuries.
OSP Senior Trooper Rick Madsen and EMT's performed CPR on passenger RONALD VANDERSCHUERE, age 43, from Cornelius. They revived him before he was taken by LifeFlight to St. Anthony Hospital where he was pronounced deceased after arrival.
Neither vehicle occupant was ejected.
OSP troopers from the Pendleton Area Command office are completing the investigation.
Ukiah Quick Response, U.S. Forest Service law enforcement personnel and ODOT assisted at the scene.
