One person died and three others were injured Sunday afternoon in a single vehicle crash on Highway 199 thirty-eight miles south of Grants Pass.
On September 27, 2009, at approximately 5:06 p.m., a gold 1983 Mercedes 4-door sedan driven by AVI N. LIVINGSTONE, age 48, from Redway, California was traveling southbound on Highway 199 near milepost 38. The Mercedes veered off the right shoulder of the highway and struck a tree. LIVINGSTONE died at the scene of the crash.
LIVINGSTONE's daughter HANA GOODKIND, age 8, was seated in the right front passenger seat and sustained serious injuries. GOODKIND was transported to Rogue Valley Hospital in Medford for treatment. LIVINGSTONE's son ILAN GOODHEART, age 12, was seated in the right rear passenger seat and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to Three rivers Hospital in Grants Pass. TOSH M. MASON, age 21, of Lopez Island, Washington was seated in the left rear passenger seat. MASON was transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass for treatment of minor injuries. All of the occupants were wearing safety restraints.
Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Grants Pass work site and the Central Point Area Command office are conducting the crash investigation. While the investigation is ongoing, it appears that driver fatigue may have been a factor in the crash.
OSP was assisted at the crash the scene by Oregon Department of Transportation, the Illinois Valley Fire Department, AMR Ambulance Service and the Jackson County Medical Examiners office.
