A reward is offered to help Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division in The Dalles locate the person or persons responsible for the unlawful killing of a deer found this morning dumped in a ditch southeast of The Dalles. The investigating trooper believes the suspect(s) dragged the dead deer behind a vehicle in a plowed field before leaving it in a ditch.
According to OSP Senior Trooper Swede Pearson, early Thursday morning, October 2, 2008, a property owner reported finding a dead deer in a ditch along Roberts Market Road near Fifteenmile Road southeast of The Dalles. Preliminary investigation indicates possible suspects were seen in the area Wednesday afternoon about 5:00 p.m. in an unknown year black Dodge Quad Cab pickup. The deer appears to have been shot in the field and dragged for approximately 1/2 mile before it was left in the ditch.
A reward of up to $250 is being offered through the Turn in Poachers (TIP) program, which is administered through the Oregon Hunters Association, for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).

Any person with information in this case is asked to contact Senior Trooper Pearson at (541) 296-9646 or the TIP hotline at 1-800-452-7888. The reporting person's information may be kept anonymous.
