Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are completing the investigation into Saturday afternoon's single vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 395 about six miles south of Lakeview. The crash resulted in the death of an 82-year old man whose name and residence information are being released following contact with next of kin.
According to OSP Trooper Scott Hill, on October 2, 2010 at approximately 2:19 p.m. a Pontiac Sunfire driven by ROY LESTER SHIDELER, age 82, from Carson City, Nevada was northbound on Highway 395 near milepost 151 when it traveled into the east side ditch, skidded back across the highway into the west side ditch where it rolled and went through a fence. SHIDELER, who was driving with a suspended Washington drivers license, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
SHIDELER lived in Spokane, Washington before moving to Nevada.
Lake County Sheriff's Office, US Forest Service and BLM law enforcement officers, ODOT and Lakeview area emergency responders assisted at the scene.
