Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Klamath Falls office are continuing the investigation into Thursday evening's fatal traffic crash along Highway 50 between Malin and Merrill in southern Klamath County. The crash resulted in the death of a Malin-area man.
On October 7, 2010 at approximately 4:55 p.m. a sport utility vehicle driven by DAVID CORIO BRITO, age 25, from Malin, was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 near milepost 19 when it traveled off the roadway onto the eastbound shoulder. The vehicle came back across the highway to the westbound shoulder, rolled over and collided with a utility pole.
BRITO was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced deceased at the scene. He was using safety restraints at the time of the crash. Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor.

OSP troopers were assisted at the scene by Malin Police Department, Basin Ambulance, and Merrill Fire Department.
