OSP Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of 4 lbs. Methamphetamine, One Arrest near The Dalles

An Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop Saturday morning in The Dalles area led to the arrest of a Parkdale man after troopers discovered approximately 4 pounds of methamphetamine concealed inside the vehicle. OSP Drug Enforcement Section detectives are continuing the investigation.
On October 8, 2011 at approximately 10:30 a.m. an OSP trooper stopped a 2004 Jeep Liberty displaying Oregon license plates for a traffic violation westbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 88. The driver was identified as ALFREDO MARTINEZ, age 56, from Parkdale.
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop with the assistance of an OSP drug detection canine led to the discovery of approximately 4 pounds of methamphetamine concealed inside the vehicle. Estimated value of the methamphetamine is $40,000.
MARTINEZ was arrested and lodged in the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility in The Dalles on charges of Unlawful Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine.
