A man sought since April 2011 after he escaped from a Washington County Community Corrections facility and then eluded Oregon State Police (OSP) and Vancouver area police officers in July was captured Monday night in Portland. OSP credits a tip into the Crime Stoppers program for helping in this arrest.
On Monday evening, October 10, 2011, an OSP detective, with the assistance of Portland police officers, arrested JONTAE RAYDALE MIXON, age 25, at the Montavilla Community Center in northeast Portland following a tip received by Crime Stoppers. MIXON was arrested without incident and lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on a felony warrant out of Washington County for Escape in the Second Degree and Dangerous Drugs. The warrant was issued after MIXON fled on foot April 5, 2011 from the Washington County Community Corrections facility in Hillsboro.
MIXON was also lodged on one count of Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle related to a July 9, 2011 incident during which he eluded an OSP trooper from Oregon into Washington State. During this incident, MIXON allegedly drove recklessly and was involved in a hit-and-run crash before police lost sight of the vehicle he was driving.
Additional charges may be pending.
