Oregon's Law Enforcement Community Receives Award for Special Olympics Involvement

Oregon’s law enforcement community received a special award recognizing achievements and involvement with Special Olympics Oregon, one of the state’s most highly respected charities, as a 2008 Governor's Gold Award recipient of "The 2008 Governors’ Gold Awards". The presentation was made during a special event in Portland in recognition of the extraordinary achievements of Oregon businesses, public and civic leaders, communities and citizens.

"The recognition of the outstanding and brave accomplishments of our state’s Law Enforcement community will only lead to greater achievements by us all," said Governor Ted Kulongoski.
The Oregon Law Enforcement Community, specifically, the Oregon State Police, the Oregon Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association, were presented the award in the ‘Individuals - Public Sector’ category during the event’s sixth year in partnership with Special Olympics Oregon at the evening dinner event before nearly 800 corporate and civic leaders.
