A 28-year old Grants Pass man died Monday evening after running into the path of an eastbound vehicle on Highway 238 (Williams Highway) approximately nine miles east of Grants Pass. Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation.

On October 19, 2009 at approximately 7:00 p.m. a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by STEPHEN EWAN, age 62, from Williams, was eastbound on Highway 238 in the 9000 block. For an unknown reason, a pedestrian ran into the road in front of the vehicle and EWAN was unable to avoid the pedestrian before striking him with his vehicle.

The pedestrian, identified as TIMOTHY BRIAN THOMAS HARDEN, age 28, from Grants Pass, apparently entered the roadway from his driveway. His wife arrived at the scene just after the incident and placed the initial 9-1-1 call. HARDEN was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OSP troopers from the Grants Pass office are continuing the investigation. Rural Metro Fire Department, American Medical Response, ODOT assisted at the scene.
