The driver of a car that crashed into the back of a moving commercial vehicle last Thursday on Interstate 84 near Rooster Rock State Park was cited today on multiple offenses following an Oregon State Police (OSP) investigation.
OSP Senior Trooper Jim Neufeldt cited GREGORY P. ANGNOS, age 23, from southeast Portland, for Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Driving Uninsured, and Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana.
On October 16, 2008 at approximately 12:10 p.m. a silver 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by ANGNOS was westbound at a high rate of speed on Interstate 84 near milepost 24 when it crashed into the left rear corner of a semi-trailer pulled by a commercial truck. The car came to rest on its top in the middle of the westbound lanes pinning ANGNOS inside.
Personnel from Multnomah County Fire District 14 extricated ANGNOS from the car, and LifeFlight transported him to Oregon Health Sciences University where he has been treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was using safety restraints and his car's airbag deployed.
The truck's driver, KIRBY FAIRCLOTH, age 60, from Newberg, was not injured.
