Detectives from the Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division, with the assistance of Wheeler County Sheriff's Office, is investigating the discovery of skeletal remains found by hunters Monday in the Ochoco National Forest.
According to OSP Sergeant Mitch Meyer, the found remains were reported to Wheeler County Sheriff's Office on October 19, 2009. OSP investigators arrived on scene Tuesday in the area of US Forest Service Road 2630 near Indian Prairie Campground, a dense wooded location near Mitchell.
A found wallet provided tentative identification as TYSON GLENN SCHRADE believed to be from the Salem area. SCHRADE was reported missing to Wheeler County Sheriff's Office about thirteen months ago. He was 27 years old when he went missing and reportedly was camping in the area as part of a Rainbow Family gathering. He was last seen on foot in the area by a local rancher.
The remains are scheduled to be sent to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office for further analysis to try and help determine the cause of death.
Crook County Search and Rescue personnel assisted with the recovery. No further information for release at this time. Next of kin were notified.
