Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday evening's fatal pedestrian–involved crash on Highway 62 just east of White City. The crash resulted in the death of a 51-year old Medford man.
On October 30, 2010 at approximately 8:57 p.m. a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by JOSHUA J. TAYLOR, age 33, from Eagle Point, was eastbound on Highway 62 east of Antelope Road when it struck RICHARD W. KRETSINGER, age 51, from Medford, in the left lane of the two eastbound lanes. KRETSINGER was apparently trying to cross the highway in an unlit area. After impact the Corolla came to rest in the painted center median.
KRETSINGER was transported to Providence Medford Medical Center by Mercy Flights ground ambulance and died from his injuries after arriving at the hospital.
TAYLOR and his two sons, ages 8 and 5, were not injured. They were using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office are continuing their investigation.
Jackson County Sheriff's Office, ODOT and the Jackson County Fire Department assisted at the scene.
