Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Friday afternoon's single vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of an elderly Tigard, Oregon couple along Highway 395 about thirteen miles north of Mt. Vernon in Grant County.

According to OSP Trooper Cody Weaver, on November 4, 2011 at approximately 2:25 p.m. a 1999 Ford F250 extended cab pickup driven by GEORGE FIDLER, age 83, from Tigard, was northbound on Highway 395 near milepost 107. As the pickup came out of a left curve the driver lost control on the slushy highway, crossed the southbound lane and overturned onto its left side. The pickup slid into a large tree crushing the top of the passenger compartment.

GEORGE FIDLER and his wife, MADELINE FIDLER, age 82, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Both were using safety restraints.

Their daughter, KATHLEEN A. CRISMAN, age 58, from West Linn, was seated in the pickup's rear seat and was not injured. She was using safety restraints.

OSP troopers from the John Day work site are continuing the investigation.

Grant County Sheriff's Office, Mt. Vernon Ambulance and ODOT assisted at the scene. The highway was restricted to one lane for about three hours.
