A two vehicle, head-on, traffic collision last night on Hwy 219 near Newberg sent four people to Portland area trauma centers.

About 7:50 PM, Oregon State Police troopers from the McMinville Area Command responded to a reported head-on traffic collision on Hwy 219 at Wynooski Rd (MP 22.5) near Newberg. The preliminary investigation shows a 1991 Honda Accord, being operated by Jason Miller, 41, of St. Paul, was southbound on Hwy 219 when it attempted to pass a semi-truck. A 1991 Acura Integra, being operated by Paul Molatore, 45, of Hillsboro, was northbound on Hwy 219 at the time and his vehicle was struck head-on by the Honda.

Molatore was transported by ground ambulance to OHSU hospital where he is in serious condition. His right front passenger, Karina Molatore, 38, of Hillsboro, was taken to OHSU by LifeFlight and is in critical condition.

Miller and his right front passenger, Marta Reischman, 38, of St. Paul, were both taken by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel hospital and are listed in serious condition.

The Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated to investigate the collision and the investigation is still continuing. No citations or arrests have been made at this time.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Yamhill County Sheriff's Dept., the Newberg and Dundee Fire Departments, and ODOT. Hwy 219 was closed in both directions for about four and a half hours.
