Oregon State Police arrested a person of interest on the Oregon State University campus Friday evening in connection to investigations related to attempted unlawful entry to Oregon State University (OSU) residence halls and facilities. The man was also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
"As a result of tips generated following media reports, Oregon State Police (OSP) Trooper Nathan House located JACOB MILEY BUTLER, age 27, at the Memorial Union Quad on the OSU campus," said OSP Lieutenant Jeff Lanz. "Despite attempts to lie about his identity, BUTLER was taken into custody on the outstanding warrants and local charges related to our investigation."
BUTLER was arrested and lodged in Benton County Jail on the outstanding Linn County Sheriff Office warrants charging Probation Violation (ID Theft) and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Sex Abuse conviction), and local charges by OSP for Burglary in the Second Degree, Theft in the First Degree, and Furnishing False Information to Police.
OSP thanks the media for helping distribute information to the community regarding BUTLER and to everyone who called in tips related to this investigation.
